Troop 451 getting here !

IMPORTANT – All visitors to the Bahamas must have a valid passport!

Getting to the Bahamas is easy and fun!
There are many options available to you when travelling to Marsh Harbour. There are numerous flights each day from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach - these airports are very easy to reach from anywhere in the US.

The most popular airlines used by Scouts travelling here are Continental, American Airlines and Bahamasair.
There are several reliable smaller airlines that Scouts also use. You may also wish to consider Yellow Air Taxi, Bimini Island Air, Twin Air, and Calypso Air. Prices vary considerably so search for the best fares and ask for a discount, this may be possible if you are travelling in a large group.
Your short flight from Florida will only take about 45 minutes. Getting through Customs and Immigration should not take long, remember to bring your passport!

  • When making your travel arrangements you should try to schedule your arrival and departure from Marsh Harbour around mid-day. This will prevent you from arriving too early and having to wait until your sailboat is ready and allow you sufficient time to clean your sailboat at the end of your trip. Please note that you will be able to board your sailboat from 10:00hrs onwards on the date your trip begins - you are expected to disembark by 10:00hrs on the last day of your trip
  • Once you arrive at Marsh Harbour International Airport you will take a Minicab Taxi, costing around $20, to the marina where your sailboat will be waiting. Our staff will have arranged to meet you at the marina when you arrive. (You will receive more detailed arrival information by email a few weeks before your trip.)
  • Ensure you have adequate travel insurance and when you make your travel reservations, please take into account how busy the airlines are during the peak holiday seasons.
  • Label all your bags clearly, ideally with large, similar labels to avoid losing baggage.
  • Hotel rooms are limited so book early. There is a much greater choice of accommodations in Florida and hotel rooms there will likely appeal to a limited budget.
We would be pleased to help you if you need any additional advice or information.

Entry Requirements and Immigration

The following section is for guidance only and should not be relied upon without first checking with the relevant organizations or authorities responsible for entry and exit.

  • When you arrive at Marsh Harbour airport, you will be asked to fill out an Immigration & Arrival/Departure Card. You will keep part of this card with your passport until your departure.
  • All visitors are required to be in possession of a return ticket.
  • All US visitors to the Bahamas must possess a valid passport! If you do not have a passport, we strongly advise you to apply for one well in advance of your trip.
  • There is a $15 departure tax. When you book your flights, check whether this is included in your fare.
  • Female travelers note, if the name you use is different from the name that appears on your passport, you must bring with you a copy of your marriage license.
